The secondary school, like a comprehensive school, is a school for everyone, as it offers every child a personal perspective through shared learning and individual support. All lower secondary school qualifications can be obtained at Selma Lagerlöf Secondary School.

Children with different learning backgrounds continue to learn together beyond Year 4 in Years 5 and 6, taught in a class group with differentiated instruction. In this way, we give all students the necessary time to develop their individual strengths and create the foundation for a successful educational path. From Year 7 onwards, basic and advanced courses are offered in Mathematics and English; for German and Physics, this system begins in Year 9.

In addition to preparing students for the transition to upper secondary education, early career orientation is a key focus of our school. We work closely with the Municipal Grammar School in Selm to jointly support students in their transition to upper secondary level.

The young teaching staff at Selma Lagerlöf School continuously works on developing the school program in order to provide a future-oriented and attractive educational offering on site and to open up suitable educational opportunities for all students. As part of digitalization, the development of media skills plays a significant role in preparing our students for the world of life and work today and in the future.

The principle of “strengthening strengths” in supplementary lessons, the study periods that allow work at different levels according to individual abilities, and the focus on STEM subjects all help our students to further develop their strengths and shape their educational path individually.

All-day offerings such as our lunchtime activities and the wide range of clubs on Friday afternoons make our school a lively place of learning, where personal strengths can be expanded and new talents discovered.
