Insel

A School for Everyone – Together. Individual. Strong.

Our school with the “Island” is a place where all children are welcome – regardless of their individual backgrounds or needs. We believe in the power of learning together and the importance of individualized support. In this way, every child at the Selma-Lagerlöf-Sekundarschule develops a personal perspective that strengthens them for the future.

The “Island” – A Space for Support and Connection

A special place at our school is “the Island.” It offers students with special educational support needs a protected space where they can find support, calmness, and new inspiration. Here, the focus is on the individual – with their strengths and needs.

Our Responsibilities at a Glance

Individual Support

We provide targeted and needs-based support for students with special educational needs – both in lessons and beyond.

Guidance and Support

We are contact persons for children, parents, and colleagues alike. Through open communication and cooperation, we develop solutions together and strengthen each child’s educational journey.

Assessment and Prevention

Through careful observation and assessment, we identify developmental needs at an early stage – and take action before problems arise.

Networking and Cooperation

In close cooperation with special schools and external partners, we create a strong support network.

The Selma-Lagerlöf-Sekundarschule is more than just a place of learning. It is a living environment – open, diverse, and respectful. A school for everyone.

School guardianship

The current chairmen of the school guardianship are Ms. Fritko and the deputies Ms. Müller, Ms. Sontag and Ms. Dietz.

The school guardianship can be reached by e-mail at schulpflegschaft@sls-selm.de.

Support association

Dear Parents,

You have enrolled your child at the Selma-Lagerlöf-Sekundarschule. This means that you are now part of the community of parents, students, and teachers at our school. Our school has a support association (“Förderverein”), which would like to briefly introduce itself to you.

Our support association is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and support the educational work of the municipal secondary school in Selm. The following activities and projects are considered particularly worthy of support:

  • lectures, discussion groups, musical, cultural, socio-political, and informational events
  • visits, excursions, class trips, study trips, and stays in youth hostels
  • student competitions
  • student and teacher exchange programs with partner schools in Germany and abroad
  • facilities and equipment for laboratories, school workshops, school libraries, and media centers
  • student working groups and clubs
  • sports events
  • and much more…

Our heartfelt request to you: Please support the association, become actively involved, and assist us with your ideas and commitment. It will benefit our children. We would therefore be very pleased to welcome you as a member.

The annual membership fee is €12. Of course, you are also welcome to make additional donations. We would be delighted to have you as a member. Simply complete our membership application form and hand it in at the school office, to the class teachers, or to one of the board members listed below.
