Natural Sciences
Science is taught in grades 5 and 6 at Selma Lagerlöf Secondary School. It provides students with an initial introduction to scientific methods and sparks their interest in the subject matter. Through the use of interactive and student-centered teaching methods, such as experiments, projects, and group work, students are actively engaged in the learning process. These methods aim to spark students’ curiosity and develop a deeper understanding of scientific phenomena and processes. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application creates a learning environment that enables students not only to learn scientific content but also to understand it and apply it in various contexts. The careful planning and implementation of science instruction demonstrate Selma-Lagerlöf Secondary School’s commitment to providing a comprehensive and future-oriented education in the sciences. After sixth grade, students receive in-depth, subject-specific instruction in biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as additional coursework through the elective-compulsory subject Natural Sciences (WP NW).
